Longterm Lane Closures Scheduled for Leestown Road Beginning Thursday, May 1
Expect delays on Leestown Road
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 29, 2025) – Construction for the New Circle Rd. (KY 4) Widening project in Lexington will require an ongoing lane closure of Leestown Rd. between Opportunity Way and Towne Center Drive. The closures will allow for the next phase of bridge construction.
Beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, one lane of Leestown Road. will be closed in each direction between Opportunity Way and Towne Center Drive. One through lane and one left turn lane in each direction under the bridge will remain open. These closures will be in place through the summer, when this portion of work is completed. Weather delays may impact when this will reopen.
Beginning Thursday, May 1
- One lane of Leestown Road in each direction will be closed between Opportunity Way and Towne Center Drive.
- Delays are likely. Please drive carefully.
- These lanes are expected to reopen later this year, once this phase of work is completed.
The work is part of the New Circle Road widening project. When complete in 2027, the project will increase the capacity and operation of New Circle Road and the Leestown Interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly-growing area of Lexington. All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
