Bridge Preservation and Restoration Project has Started on I-165 in Butler County
Motorists should expect long-term lane closures
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (April 29, 2025) – A project to completely restore and preserve the I-165 bridges over the Green River (mile point 32.6) in Butler County has started. Long-term lane closures are being put in place while a contractor builds the temporary crossover for traffic. When the crossovers are built, motorists will switch over to driving on the opposite side. The speed limit has been lowered to 55 mph throughout the entire project limits. Motorists should use caution while traveling through the area.
The project involves completely overhauling the bridge and constructing new upgraded portions like a new bridge deck and bridge walls. The bridges will remain open through the entire project, but with different traffic patterns during the construction process.
The project was awarded to Scott & Murphy Inc. for the amount of $18.7 million. The project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2026.
