New Circle Road

Tuesday, April 29 – Thursday, May 1

Expect delays on New Circle Road and Leestown Road

between 7 p.m. – 5 a.m.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 28, 2025)  Construction for the New Circle Rd. (KY 4) Widening project in Lexington will require temporary overnight lane closures on both New Circle and Leestown Roads on Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30. The closures will allow the contractors to demolish the next portion of the bridge over Leestown Road.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday, contractors will close the left lane of the New Circle Outer Loop between Georgetown Road and just past Leestown Road. Additionally, at 10 p.m. Leestown Road will be shut down in both directions at New Circle Road. Traffic will be diverted onto New Circle Road. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning. The closure will repeat Wednesday night.

Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30

  • At 7 p.m., the left lane of the New Circle Road Outer Loop will close between Georgetown Road and Leestown Road.
  • At 10 p.m., Leestown Road will be closed at New Circle Road. Vehicles will not be able to go under the New Circle Road overpass. Traffic will be diverted onto New Circle Road.
  • Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.
  • All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.

The work is part of the New Circle Road widening project. When complete in 2027, the project will increase the capacity and operation of New Circle Road and the Leestown Interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly-growing area of Lexington.
