TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Closure of KY 22 (Ballardsville Road) Beginning Tuesday, April 29, in Oldham County

KYTC crews to repair roadway following recent flooding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 25, 2025) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of the upcoming closure of a section of KY 22 (Ballardsville Road) beginning Tuesday, April 29, in Oldham County.

KY 22 (Ballardsville Road) will be closed from mile point 11.5 (at the KY 22/KY 53 intersection) to mile point 0.35 (near Radcliff Road in Henry County) beginning Tuesday, April 29, at 9 a.m. This section of KY 22 (Ballardsville Road) is currently reduced to one lane, with traffic managed by a temporary signal, due to a roadway slide caused by recent heavy rainfall and flooding.

The full closure starting April 29 is necessary to allow KYTC crews to carry out slide repairs safely. A timeline for reopening is not currently available, as the full extent of the damage cannot be assessed until work begins. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Motorists should expect to follow the signed detours along the route while work is underway. Drivers should continue on KY 22 (Ballardsville Road) to KY 53, then follow KY 322 (Lucas Road/McCoun Road) in Shelby and Henry Counties to reconnect with KY 22 beyond the closure. Motorists traveling from Henry County to La Grange should take KY 1861 (Smithfield Road) to Radcliff Road, then continue on KY 712 (Jericho Road) to reach La Grange. Local traffic should navigate around the closure via Ballard Vista Drive on the west side of the work zone or Ballard Glenn Parkway on the east side.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
