TRAFFIC ADVISORY: I-64 East and West Overnight Lane Closures Beginning Wednesday, April 23, in Jefferson County
Rolling roadblocks to be expected
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 22, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of overnight lane closures and rolling roadblocks on Interstate 64 East and West beginning tomorrow, April 23, in Jefferson County.
As work continues on the I-64 bridge replacement project over the Middle Fork of Beargrass Creek at mile point 11.799, contract crews will implement overnight rolling roadblocks and intermittent lane closures beginning Wednesday, April 23, at 8 p.m. through Thursday, April 24, at 6 a.m., and again from 8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, to 6 a.m. Friday, April 25.
Crews will start on the westbound lanes before transitioning to the eastbound side. These temporary traffic impacts are necessary to complete a traffic switch that will shift vehicles to the outer shoulders in both directions, allowing construction to proceed in the median. Two 11-foot lanes will remain open in each direction throughout construction.
Drivers should heed signage, use caution, and expect delays while traveling through the work zone. The work is being completed by E&B Paving, LLC. of Jeffersonville, Ind., under a $6.6 million contract, and is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2025.
The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
