Drain Replacement Planned on KY 1700 in Hancock County on Wednesday

Tile and roadway damaged by recent flooding

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (April 22, 2025) Due to damage sustained during recent flooding, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will be closing KY 1700 in Hancock County between Yaekel Road (6.6 mp) and Sweet Lane (8.5 mp) to through traffic on Wednesday to replace a drainage tile at between the 8.1-8.2 mile points.

The tile failed during recent flooding and has caused damage to a portion of the roadway.

KYTC will close the roadway at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, and it will remain closed until Thursday morning to allow the new pavement to cure overnight. Local traffic can access the area from either end of the closure. Motorists are reminded not to move barricades as driving through fresh concrete can damage the roadway further and cause the closure to be lengthened.

There will be no marked detour.
