Evening/Overnight Rolling Roadblock on I-71 in Boone County on Thursday, April 17

Crews will be pothole patching between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.

COVINGTON, Ky. (April 17, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of rolling roadblocks on Interstate 71 in Boone County on Thursday, April 17. Traffic will be temporarily slowed down and, at times, stopped to allow crews space to patch potholes. This project will improve safety on the area interstates.

Crews will begin patching potholes on I-71 southbound between the I-71/75 split (mile point 77) and the Boone/Gallatin County line (mile point 69.91), a distance of 7.09 miles. Once that work has been completed, crews will shift to I-71 northbound from the Boone/Gallatin County line to the I-71/75 split. Crews will also perform pothole patching on the exit interchange on/off ramps at the I-71/75 split.

Our KYTC Boone County maintenance crew will be making these repairs between the working hours of 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. This work is being performed overnight to mitigate traffic disruptions.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, and to find an alternate route during these hours to avoid delays. Motorists should adhere to posted signage, and not pass crews blocking ramps during the rolling roadblock. Crews temporarily block the highway to provide a safe area for our crews to work. Please, drive safely to keep our work zones and workers safe.

Weather permitting, this pothole patching project should be completed by Friday, April 18 at 4 a.m.

Project schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
