Closure Scheduled for Paris Pike (US 68) in Fayette County Overnight

Thursday, April 17 – Friday, April 18

Delays possible on Paris Pike near I-75 11 p.m. - 5 a.m.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 17, 2025) Construction for the I-75 widening project from Paris Pike to the Southern Split in Lexington will require short temporary overnight closures of Paris Pike in both directions under the I-75 bridge overnight Thursday night. Motorists should use I-75 as a detour route or seek alternate routes. The closures will allow contractors to set beams for interstate bridge widening.

Beginning Thursday at 11 p.m., contractors will close Paris Pike in both directions under the I-75 bridge. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Friday morning. Traffic traveling eastbound – away from Lexington – on Paris Pike will detour via I-75 southbound to Exit 110 (Winchester Road), turn around and re-enter Paris Pike eastbound via Exit 113 (Paris Pike). Traffic traveling westbound – toward Lexington – on Paris Pike will detour via I-75 northbound to Exit 115 (Newtown Pike), where they will turn around and re-enter Paris Pike westbound at Exit 113 (Paris Pike).

Law enforcement will be onsite to direct traffic.

Overnight Thursday, April 17 – Friday, April 18

  • At 11 p.m., Paris Pike will close in both directions under the I-75 bridge.
  • Law enforcement officers will be present at both ramp intersections to detour traffic onto the interstate.
  • All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each morning.

The work is part of the I-75 widening project. When complete in 2026, this project will reduce congestion and improve safety throughout the 2-mile corridor from the Paris Pike exit to the I-64/75 southern split. It is the second of two projects to widen I-64/75 to four lanes each direction in Fayette County. Find more information online at DrivingLexingtonProgress.org.

All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
