Resurfacing Project on Airport Access Road (KY 212) in Boone County Beginning Monday, April 21

CVG travelers encouraged to leave early

COVINGTON, Ky. (April 18, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists of an upcoming resurfacing project on Airport Access Road (KY 212) in Boone County beginning Monday, April 21.

Crews will be resurfacing Airport Access Road between the CVG property line (0.0 mile point) and Petersburg Road (KY 20) (1.06 mile point), a distance of 1.06 miles. Additionally, crews will be resurfacing the following exit ramps:

  • Airport Access Road northbound off-ramp to Donaldson Highway (KY 236)
  • Donaldson Highway (KY 236) on-ramp to Airport Access Road southbound

Crews are expected to begin performing base failures on Monday, April 21. This work is expected to take approximately one week. Once base failures have been completed, crews will shift to milling and paving operations.

All work will take place between the evening/overnight working hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists should expect single lane closures throughout the project area. CVG Airport travelers with early flights are encouraged to leave ample time to get through the work zone.

KYTC District 6 has coordinated with CVG Airport officials for this project to ensure travelers are kept up-to-date regarding any traffic impacts due to the project.

Eaton Asphalt Paving Co. Inc. is contracted to perform the $511,179 project on behalf of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Weather permitting, the project has a completion date of June 30, 2025.
