KYTC District 1 Conducts Emergency Repair to Flood-Damaged KY 272 Bridge in Trigg County
Cliffwood Drive subdivision accessible via KY 139 and Burge Creek Bridge
PADUCAH, Ky. (Apr. 4, 2025) – A Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 1 highway maintenance crew has completed emergency repairs on a flood-damaged bridge on KY 272/Caledonia Road this afternoon, restoring access to a subdivision that was previously cut off on three sides.
Earlier this morning, KY 272/Caledonia Road was closed at the 4.44-mile marker due to damage to the Burge Creek Bridge caused by flash flooding.
In addition, KY 272/Caledonia Road is blocked by high water further down the road near KY 1253, and Glenwood Mill Road, a county road, is also flooded, leaving Cliffwood Drive residents without access.
KYTC District 1 crews completed a temporary repair at the Burge Creek Bridge at 3:45 p.m. today to provide a route for Cliffwood Drive residents to reach their homes via KY 139. This repair is also crucial for ensuring emergency services, such as ambulances and fire trucks, can access the area in case of an emergency.
This fix is temporary, and a more permanent repair will be necessary after the severe weather expected this weekend.
