KYTC District 2 Preparing for Approaching Weather
High water expected across the region
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (April 02, 2025) – With the National Weather Service in Paducah calling for severe weather and up to 15 inches of rain over the next three days, personnel in Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 2 have spent most of the day on Wednesday getting prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws at the region.
Crews in some areas were clearing tiles and waterways where drainage could become an issue during the coming storm. In all 11 counties, response vehicles are being gassed up and loaded with equipment such as chainsaws that would be necessary in the event roadways need to be cleared over night. As many response vehicles as possible are being moved into the county maintenance garages to keep them safe from hail and debris so they will be ready to roll out if needed.
Motorists who are out tonight and over the next several days are asked to travel with caution. With the amount of rainfall that is being predicted, many roadways across Kentucky will likely be impacted by high water. Remember, turn around, don’t drown.
