TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Lane Closures and Rolling Roadblocks on I-64 East Tuesday, April 1, in Jefferson County

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 31, 2025) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of lane closures and rolling roadblocks on Interstate 64 East on Tuesday, April 1, in Jefferson County.

As a necessary safety precaution, the right lane of I-64 East is currently closed at the bridge over the Middle Fork of Beargrass Creek at mile point 11.799 (near Exit 12 to I-264/Watterson Expressway) due to bridge deck damage. Contract crews will perform temporary repairs ahead of a larger bridge replacement project that began in early March.

On Tuesday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., rolling roadblocks will be possible to provide crews ample space to safely install barrier walls before work begins on the temporary repairs. Drivers should heed signage, use caution, and anticipate slowed or briefly stopped traffic in the work zone.

This bridge replacement project, which includes both the I-64 East and West bridges over the Middle Fork of Beargrass Creek, is being carried out by E&B Paving, LLC of Jeffersonville, Ind., under a $6.6 million contract. As construction progresses, motorists should expect lane closures, traffic shifts, and potential delays. Updates on traffic impacts will be included in the District’s weekly Roadshow report, which outlines traffic impacts related to major projects and maintenance work.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
