Inclement weather forecast for Central Kentucky
District 7 personnel are prepared
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 18, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises that District 7 continues to monitor the forecast closely. Personnel patrolled and treated routes today for high water, snow and slick areas. Crews and contractors will report for work this evening due to the forecast of inclement weather.
Snowplow trucks will have to detour around the routes with high water and flooding. This could affect the clearing time and operations for snow removal. Single digit temperatures reduce the effectiveness of salt and other de-icing materials that are utilized. It will take time to remove snow, as warmer temperatures are not predicted until the weekend.
Motorists should consider limiting travel to give crews space to work. Roads that are flooded could freeze and become snow covered, creating an unexpected hazard. Drivers need to remain aware of continued high water and flooded areas. If travel is necessary, remember to never drive through high water, pack an emergency car kit, and reduce speed.
