District 3 Highway Crews Ready for Winter Weather Storm System Tonight
The District 3 area serves Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd, and Warren Counties
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Feb. 18, 2025) – State highway crews from every county in the District 3 area are bracing for another round of winter weather expected tonight. The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) Louisville has placed every county in District 3 under a Winter Storm Warning from 6 p.m. tonight through Noon Wednesday. The NWS predicts three to six inches of snow to hit the area.
Crews mobilized Monday and Tuesday for anti-icing operations on all the routes that could be completed prior to the winter weather system. Snow is expected to move into the District beginning in the western counties around 6 p.m. Crews will be reporting in at various times in each county and deploy when necessary.
Hazardous driving conditions are expected to begin early tonight through Wednesday. The heavier snowfall is expected to start after midnight. The morning commute on Wednesday is expected to be greatly impacted by this winter weather system. Motorists who have to be out should allow for extra travel time, use slower speeds and give plenty of space between vehicles.
Crews are still dealing with flooded roads following a heavy rain weather system that dumped five to six inches of rain in some areas. The current road closure list may be found here.
