Traffic pattern changes scheduled for Richmond in Madison County

MLK Jr. Day Unity in Action March in downtown Richmond

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 17, 2025) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of traffic pattern changes for Richmond, Madison County. Temporary adjustments will be necessary for the Unity in Action March scheduled for downtown Richmond. The march will take place on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 20, 2025. The Richmond Police Department will be assisting with traffic.

Monday, Jan. 209:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. (times are approximate)

Route sections below will be closed:

  • Lancaster Avenue/KY 52 from Water Street (city route) to Main Street/US 25X (MP 1.510)
  • Main Street/US 25X at the First Christian Church entrance to Second Street (city route)
  • Third Street (city route) from West Irvine Street (city route) to Water Street

Motorists should expect and plan for delays --- heavy traffic is expected.

All closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
