Update On District Road Conditions

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (Jan. 6, 2024)  As precipitation comes to an end this afternoon, temperatures are expected to reach just below freezing to just above freezing from north to south across the district. With solar leak getting through the cloud layer, pavement temps are generally holding around and just above the freezing mark resulting in wet surfaces. Many shaded areas are still slushy.

Crews continue to push off slush today and treat. Some afternoon drying will take place, but with temperatures well into teen territory overnight, icy spots will be possible on all routes into Tuesday morning.

We continue to reiterate the message for motorists to slow down and allow extra travel time. Road conditions can change quickly over a short distance and drivers can hit a slick spot with little or no advance recognition and no time to properly react.
