District 3 Counties Under Winter Storm Warning as Hazardous Driving Conditions Possible Monday

The District 3 area serves Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd, and Warren Counties

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Jan. 5, 2025) Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 crews are wrapping up road treating operations following a winter storm system that started Sunday morning. Crews continue to work on cleaning up downed trees due to icing. However, motorists are urged not let their guard down as more winter weather could be on the way Monday morning. Multiple counties in the District 3 area have been placed under a Winter Storm Warning by the National Weather Service-Louisville.

Rain is expected to continue through the night and change over to snow in the morning around 6 a.m. Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Metcalfe, Monroe and Warren Counties are under a Winter Storm Warning until 6 p.m Monday. Hazardous travel conditions are possible beginning early Monday morning into the afternoon. The timing of the winter weather arrival is not certain, but 6 a.m. is an estimate.

Highway crews will be deploying for road treatment operations in the morning. Motorists in all counties that have to be out should give snowplows plenty of space, use slower speeds and use caution. A substantial amount of single vehicle crashes Sunday were a result of motorists not slowing down and using safe driving behavior.
