Traffic pattern changes scheduled for Richmond in Madison County

The 2024 City of Richmond Christmas Parade

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 6, 2024)  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of traffic pattern changes for Richmond, Madison County. Temporary modifications will be necessary for the 2024 City of Richmond Christmas Parade.

The parade is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024. The Richmond Police Department will be onsite to assist motorists.

Friday, Dec. 6 6 p.m. until approximately 8 p.m.

The route sections below will be closed:

  • Lancaster Avenue/KY 52 - between the Eastern Bypass and Main Street/US 25X (milepoint 1.510)
  • Main Street/US 25X (milepoint 1.510) - between Lancaster Avenue/KY 52 (milepoint 1.780) and South Collins Street (city route)
  • between South Collins Street (city route) and Summit Street (city route)
  • North First Street (city route) at Main Street/US 25X to South First Street (city route) at Water Street (city route)
  • Second Street (city route) from West Irvine Street (city route) to Water Street (city route)
  • Third Street (city route) from West Irvine Street to Water Street (city route)
  • Madison Avenue (city route) from Main Street/US 25X to Water Street (city route)

Motorists should expect and plan for delays --- heavy traffic is expected.

All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
