KY 502 Bridge Project Completed

Roadway reopened for the first time since early 2022

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 15, 2024) KY 502 (Coiltown Road) in Hopkins County reopened today after having been closed in the spring of 2022 due to advanced deterioration of timber pilings on three bridges that cross the Clear Creek Water Shed.

Haydon Bridge Company demolished the old bridges, which were built in 1959, and constructed three modern bridges that traverse nearly a half mile of wetlands in rural Hopkins County.

Heavy rains earlier this week caused flooding along Coiltown Road on Thursday, but high waters receded in time for the roadway to reopen this afternoon.

Coiltown Road serves as a connection between U.S. 41A and KY 109, linking Nebo with the West Hopkins area of the county. As of 2019, around 300 vehicles used this roadway each day.
