Three Week Closure Details
A three week closure will be in place on a portion of Turfway Road (KY 717) beginning Monday, Oct. 21. This closure is necessary as part of the ongoing Donaldson Highway widening project.
Tentative Schedule Beginning Friday, Oct. 18, crews will finish installing a new traffic signal at the intersection of O'Hara Road (KY 3147) and Donaldson Highway. This signal will be flashing yellow to warn motorists prior to it coming fully online.
The signal will become fully activated on Monday, Oct. 21 at 9 a.m. Crews will then close Turfway Road from O'Hara Road (mile point 1.29) to Donaldson Highway (mile point 1.68).
Local traffic will have access to nearby businesses and homes via the construction entrance at Turfway Road and O'Hara Road. Turfway Road will be closed to all traffic near the intersection of Donaldson Highway.
DETOUR (driving northbound): Turfway Road to O'Hara Road, right on Donaldson Highway (at new traffic signal), left on Turfway Road.
DETOUR (driving southbound): Turfway Road to Donaldson Highway, left on O'Hara Road (at new traffic signal), right on Turfway Road.
This three week closure will provide crews a safe area to work on completing a portion of the intersection of Turfway Road and Donaldson Highway. Closing this portion of Turfway Road will result in a better engineered final product. KYTC engineers will update the signal phasing on Donaldson Highway at the intersections of Turfway Road and O'Hara Road to reflect the upcoming work. Motorists are encouraged to leave early, or find a different route.
Once the three week closure has been completed, crews will begin a traffic switch on Donaldson Highway from Turfway Road to Houston Road (KY 842). KYTC will provide further details about this traffic switch at a later date.
The project has a completion date of September 2025.
