Bridge rehabilitation project underway in
Anderson County
The Bluegrass Parkway/KY 9002 over the Kentucky River
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 30, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a bridge rehabilitation project for the Bluegrass Parkway/KY 9002. Repairs will be in effect for the east and westbound bridges. The bridges are located over the Kentucky River on the Anderson-Woodford County line.
The rehabilitation includes steel repairs, new inspection walkways located under the bridges and improvements for drainage. Work will begin westbound and then proceed to the eastbound bridge. The anticipated completion date for the project is January 2026.
Monday, Sept. 30 – currently and until 5 p.m. today
The Bluegrass Parkway/KY 9002
- the westbound bridge will be closed to motorists at milepoint 69.1
- both directions of traffic will be reduced to one lane with crossovers to the eastbound bridge
- lane widths will be decreased to 11 feet
Motorists should remain aware of the changes for the area and utilize caution.
All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
