Steel Repairs Scheduled for U.S. 42 Carrollton-Prestonville Bridge in Carroll County Beginning on Monday, Oct. 7
24/7 single lane closure will be in place during the repair project
COVINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 24, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a steel repair project on the U.S. 42 Carrollton-Prestonville Bridge (5.7 – 5.9 mile point) in Carroll County beginning Monday, Oct. 7.
The contractor plans to utilize a 24/7 single lane closure during the project. Temporary traffic signals will be placed on the bridge to guide traffic.
Message boards will be placed next Monday, Sept. 30, to warn motorists of the upcoming work, and associated lane closures. Seek an alternate route to avoid delays.
Judy C Harp Company LLC, is contracted to perform the $119,897 project on behalf of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Weather permitting, the overall project has an expected completion date of early November.

NOTE: this bridge crossing is scheduled to be replaced in the future. KYTC is completing an Environmental Document for the bridge replacement project. A public meeting has not been formally scheduled, but is tentatively expected to take place later this fall. Once KYTC receives Environmental approval, right-of-way will take place over a two-year period. Construction would take place after that phase.
