Clarks River Bridge Closure on KY 402 in Marshall County Delayed Until Early 2025
Crews to begin site preparations next week
PADUCAH, Ky. (Aug. 25, 2024) – Work on the KY 402 (Aurora Highway) Clarks River Bridge in Marshall County will commence on Sept. 3, 2024, but closure of the bridge will be pushed back to the spring of 2025.
Motorists can expect periodical lane restrictions as personnel begin the process of relocating utilities, clearing the terrain around the bridge and constructing a work platform that will be used once construction on the bridge itself begins. When restrictions are necessary, there will be flaggers on site to direct traffic.
Next spring a contractor working for the KYTC will begin removing the existing structure. This will work will include constructing new approach sections to the current truss bridge built in 1933 as well as repairs and refurbishing of the existing truss to preserve its historical nature. Total cost of this project is $7.7 million.
An average of slightly more than 2,000 cars per day utilize this bridge and roadway.
