LEXINGTON, Ky. (August 6, 2024) – Construction for the I-75 widening project in Lexington will require a temporary lane closure on part of Paris Pike scheduled for Wednesday, August 7 and Thursday, August 8, from midmorning to midafternoon. This closure facilitates the placement of traffic signals for the future roadway configuration.
Beginning at 9 a.m. each day, contractors will close the right lane of northbound US 68 (Paris Pike) at the I-64/75 northbound ramp according to the following schedule:
Wednesday, August 7 and Thursday, August 8
- The right lane of northbound US 68 (Paris Pike) will be closed at the I-64/I-75 northbound ramp beginning at 9 a.m.
- Barrels will be in place to facilitate traffic. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes if possible.
- All lanes will reopen by 3 p.m. each day.
The work is part of the I-75 widening project. When complete in 2026, this project will reduce congestion and improve safety throughout the 2-mile corridor from the Paris Pike exit to the I-64/75 southern split. It is the second of two projects to widen I-64/75 to four lanes each direction in Fayette County.
All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
