Motorist Should Expect Heavy Traffic as Bike Rally Draws Crowds to Union County

Sturgis Kentucky Bike Rally scheduled July 17-21

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (July 15, 2024) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) reminds motorists to be alert as thousands of motorcycles and other vehicles make their way across western Kentucky this week for the Sturgis Kentucky Bike Rally, held the third weekend of July each year.

The annual event runs from Wednesday, July 17, through Sunday, July 21, but visitors are expected to start rolling into the region as early as today.

The rally creates heavy traffic along U.S.60 in the Sturgis, KY area, but other routes leading from interstates to the Union County Fairgrounds can get quite busy, especially towards the beginning and end of the event. Routes frequently utilized by event goers include U.S. 60 through Crittenden, Henderson and Union counties, KY 109 through Hopkins, Union and Webster counties and U.S. 41A through Hopkins and Webster counties.

Motorists are reminded to be alert for motorcycles along area backroads this week as the rally includes several poker runs and other fundraisers.
