Pride Elementary Project to Start on Monday
Will add longer pickup que and new parking lot entrance
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (July 12, 2024) – A nearly $650,000 investment by the Commonwealth of Kentucky to prioritize safe access to Kentucky schools will be bringing a new and expanded car rider line to Pride Elementary School in a project slated to get under way on Monday in Madisonville. Motorists should anticipate lane restrictions and delays along Pride Avenue (KY 1581) as early as next week.
The project will add a new entrance/exit to the south end of the school parking lot and create a much longer que for car rider traffic that will start on Pride Avenue Drive and wrap around the outter edge of school property. The new design is expected to reduce wait times on Pride Avenue during afternoon student pickup.
Some traffic delays and lane restrictions are possible along Pride Avenue, especially early in the project as the new entrance is constructed. KYTC officials are looking to have that phase of construction completed by the first day of classes. Work on the new que line can be completed during school and should have little impact on existing school traffic.
The $648,735 project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November. It is anticipated that school officials will communicate the new traffic flow to parents and guardians once the project is finished.
Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
