CSX Plans Railroad Crossing Maintenance Starting Next Week in Hopkins County
Work in Christian County will begin the week of July 15
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (July 5, 2024) – CSX Railroad plans to close a number of railroad crossings in the coming weeks, starting with four crossings in Hopkins County before branching out to other crossings in Christian and Hopkins counties the following week.
The scheduled date of closures are as follows:
• July 8 — Hospital Drive in Madisonville
• July 9 — West Noel (KY 1178) in Madisonville
• July 10 — West Broadway in Madisonville
• July 11 — West Moss Avenue in Earlington
Each closure is expected to last roughly 24 to 48 hours, depending on weather, rail traffic and other factors.
Beginning on July 15, two production teams will be addressing other city, county, private and state roads along the line between Hanson and Hopkinsville. Specific dates for these closures have not yet been set, so motorists are urged to watch for warning signs and railroad workers along this route.
Roads alone the route from north to south include: Herron Drive in Hanson, West Madison Street in Hanson, Sunset Road in Hanson (KY 260), a private road, West North Street in Madisonville, West Center Street in Madisonville, Sugg Street in Madisonville, West Lake Street in Madisonville, Victoria Hill in Madisonville, Hubert Reid Drive in Earlington, Main Street (KY 112) in Earlington, Bell Crossing Road in Barnsley, Ed Brackett Lane in Barnsley, Cross Street in Morton's Gap, Will Lane in Nortonville, three private roads between Nortonville and Crofton, East Mill Street in Crofton, Old Madisonville Road in Crofton, J Knight Road in Crofton, a private road, Old Madisonville Road in Hopkinsville, Kelly-Mt Zoar Road in Hopkinsville, a private road and Old Concord Lane in Hopkinsville.
