ALERT: I-24 Eastbound Blocked At 62mm in Trigg County Due to Damaged Bridge
Estimated duration is unknown
PADUCAH, Ky. (June 6, 2024) – The eastbound lanes of Interstate 24 are blocked near the 62 mile marker in Trigg County due to damage to the KY 124/Cerulean Road Overpass.
KYTC personel received reports this morning about concrete along I-24 at the overpass. On arrival, bridge inspectors found evidence the overpass had been struck by a passing truck in the last few days, causing damage to several of the bridge support beams.
As a precaution, eastbound traffic on I-24 is being detoured off at the KY 139 Cadiz-Princeton Exit 56 interchange to follow the marked I-24 emergency detour route along KY 139 South to U.S. 68 East to return to I-24 eastbound at the Cadiz Exit 65 interchange.
Duration is unknown. Updates as new info becomes available.
To Avoid the traffic backup on the main detour, motorists should consider a detour via I-24 Exit 25 near Calvert City to I-69 South to U.S. 68 Draffenville Exit 47 to follow U.S. 68 East through Aurora and Land between the Lakes to return to I-24 at Cadiz Exit 65. Motorists should be aware of extra traffic along U.S. 68 due to the 400 Mile Yard Sale this weekend.
