Mt. Moriah in Owensboro Now Open

Work completed three days earlier than anticipated

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (June 4, 2024) – A contractor working for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has completed a planned crosscut for utility work on Mount Moriah Avenue in Owensboro three days ahead of schedule. Motorists can now once again access the KY 54 Walmart main entrance..

The blockage was expected to last from June 3 through June 7, but work was completed on the project earlier today.

Due to heavy rainfall in the forecast for tomorrow, plans to pave the crosscut have been put on hold until weather clears. The area has been packed with gravel in order to allow it to be opened to traffic, so motorists should be aware of a potential rougher than normal crossing.

Once the weather clears, the contractor will pave the roadway in segments, with lane restrictions and flaggers expected, to allow work to be completed without having to close Mount Moriah again.
