KY 1065/Outer Loop Improvement Project Begins in Jefferson County
Project includes repairs to concrete slabs and sidewalks
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 5, 2024) – A roadway rehabilitation project has been awarded for a 2-mile stretch of KY 1065/Outer Loop in Jefferson County. This project will extend the life of the roadway and improve driver comfort on the roadway.
The KY 1065/Outer Loop concrete rehabilitation project includes the milling and removal of sections of existing concrete pavement with the replacement of new concrete pavement from mile point 5.470 (near Briarcliff Road) to mile point 7.717 (near Donegal Drive). Other improvements to the corridor include new striping and sidewalk improvements.
Preliminary work on the project has begun, with work taking place on the eastbound side from Briarcliff Road to the Preston Highway intersection. Right lane closures are possible along this section with left lane closures forthcoming as work progresses. Contract crews will mobilize on the westbound side of the corridor following the completion of the eastbound side. Motorists should expect changing traffic patterns, lane shifts, and closures as construction progresses.
Motorists should obey restrictions and use caution when traveling through the work zone. Traffic impacts are available: https://transportation.ky.gov/DistrictFive/Pages/KYTC-District-5-Roadshow.aspx.
Bluegrass Contracting Corporation, of Lexington, Ky., was awarded the $3.3 million contract with the project completion date anticipated for the fall of 2024.
