Resurfacing Project on KY 18 (Burlington Pike) in Boone County Now Underway
Overnight lane closures from Girard Street to KY 1017 (Turfway Road)
COVINGTON, Ky. (May 23, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) announces a resurfacing project currently underway on a section of KY 18 (Burlington Pike) in Boone County.
Crews are working on KY 18 from Girard Street (16.06 milepoint), to KY 1017 (Turfway Road) (16.63 mile point), a distance of 0.57 miles.
The project includes various sidewalk repairs, reconfiguring striping for several dedicated turning lanes and resurfacing throughout the project limits.
Sidewalk repairs are now complete. Milling and paving operations are expected to begin on Tuesday, May 28. Motorists should expect an overnight single lane closure between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m.
Message boards are in place to inform motorists of the upcoming work.
The project is being done by Riegler Blacktop, Inc., under a $364,133.52 low-bid Transportation Cabinet contract. The project is expected to be completed by July 31, 2024.
This project is one of two resurfacing projects taking place in Florence on KY 18 this year. The first project is taking place from KY 842 (Houston Road) to Girard Street. Base failure repairs are now complete for the first section. Crews are expected to begin milling/paving operations on Tuesday, May 28, starting at KY 842 (Houston Road), and moving east to KY 1017 (Turfway Road). Due to proximity of both projects, crews may mill/pave within both project limits during overnight working hours.
These improvements will provide a smoother ride for motorists who utilize this heavily traveled route.
The date, time, and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Motorists can get Northern Kentucky road construction updates on the District 6 Roadshow.
