Traffic changes scheduled for Newtown Pike/KY 922 widening project in Fayette County
Project area is between New Circle Road/KY 4 and Interstate 75
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 16, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of scheduled traffic changes that are necessary for the Newtown Pike/KY 922 widening project. The project limits are between milepoints 1.6 and 3.2 --- a distance of 1.61 miles.
Newtown Pike/KY 922
Thursday, May 16
- traffic will be shifted onto the new Newtown Pike/KY 922 Ramp – beginning at 10 p.m.
- the Northbound Newtown Pike/KY 922 On Ramp (Exit 115) will be closed tonight between the hours of 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. (Friday, May 17)
- the Southbound Newtown Pike/KY 922 On Ramp (Exit 115) to I 64 Eastbound/I 75 Southbound will be closed for 30 days (until Sunday, June 16)
Note:
- On SB Newtown Pike/KY 922 coming from Georgetown/the KY Horse Park toward the interstate, access to the On Ramp to I-64 East/I-75 Southbound will be closed for 30 days.
Motorists traveling southbound on Newtown Pike/KY 922 may seek alternate routes.
- On NB Newtown Pike/KY 922, coming from Lexington/New Circle Rd/KY 4 toward the interstate, access to the On Ramp to I-64 East/I-75 South will be temporarily closed until 2 AM Friday morning, May 17.
Ramp access from northbound Newtown Pike/KY 922 will remain open afterwards.
The project to widen a portion of Newtown Pike/KY 922 will improve safety and mobility along a high-traffic corridor in Lexington. The route will be widened from two to three lanes in each direction between New Circle Road/KY 4 and Interstate 75.
District 7 includes: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties
