Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 Traffic Impact Report for April 28 through May 3
The District 3 area serves Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd, and Warren Counties
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (April 28, 2024) – The expected traffic impacts in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 area for April 28 through May 3 are listed below. All work is subject to change.
Interstate 165
- A project to resurface and rehabilitate Interstate 165 in Butler County is expected to begin Tuesday, April 30. Crews will be milling and resurfacing the roadway in both directions from mile point 26.4 to mile point 32.8.Motorists should expect lane closures in this area. The speed limit will be lowered to 55 mph. Motorists should use caution as crews will be working close to the roadway. The project is expected to be completed by November 1.
District-wide striping
- A contractor will be out on various routes throughout the District the next few weeks putting striping down. Please give plenty of space to their vehicles and use caution.
Edmonson County

KY 187 (mile point 2.2) - A project to replace a bridge on KY 187 Sunfish Road in Edmonson County continues. The road is closed at Whetstone Creek. A signed detour using KY 70, KY 238, and KY 185 is in place. The closure is expected to last 60 days.

KY 70 (mile point 11) - A contractor will begin working on rail and sidewalk repair on the KY 70 bridge over the Green River on Monday, April 29. The bridge will be down to one lane during business hours and go back to two lanes in the evening. The work is expected to take about a month to complete.
Metcalfe County

KY 533 (mile point 8 to 9.9)- Crews will begin resurfacing prep work. Crews will be working in the area. Motorists should use caution while traveling in this area.
Monroe County

KY 87 (mile points 3.85 to 5.7) - Crews will be on site milling out base failures and placing asphalt base on Thursday, May 2. Please use caution while in this area.

KY 2165 (mile point 0.00 to 0.25) - A Crews will be milling edge keys and resurfacing will begin. Motorists should expect lane closures all week. Please use caution while traveling in this area.
Simpson County

KY 100 (mile point 9.7) - A project to rehabilitate the concrete section on KY100 between KY 1008 and U.S. 31-W continues. Motorists should expect lane closures in this section.
Warren County

U.S. 68 (mile point 17.1) - A project to construct a left and right turn lane from U.S. 68 to Fred Madison Road into the Kentucky Transpark has started. Motorists should expect lane closures and crews working close to the roadway. Motorists should use lower speeds and exercise caution while traveling in this area. The project is expected to be completed before July 1.

WKU Graduation - Western Kentucky University will be hosting graduation ceremonies throughout the day on Friday, May 3. Motorists should avoid the areas around campus as traffic will be heavy.
