Roadwork Update: KY 88 in Hart County

Closure for concrete work this weekend

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (April. 14, 2024)  A project underway to repair and resurface a portion of KY 88 in Hart County will require closure of the road where it meets US 31W in Munfordville. Work began in February with the initial project announcement providing details of a concrete inlay. The improvement is designed to withstand torque and twisting produced as heavy vehicles pull into and out of the intersection. Maintenance crews have continually addressed the area recently, attempting to temporarily fill wheel rutting and potholes. The concrete inlay provides a long-term solution.

Concrete work is planned over the weekend to minimize traffic disruption. Closure of KY 88 between Hart County Bank and Trust Company and the South Central Rural Telephone and Farmers Rural Electric Cooperative building will begin at 6pm Friday (April 19th) and run through 6am Monday (April 22nd). Adverse weather could alter the work and closure schedule.

Signs will be posted to detour traffic for eastbound and westbound KY 88 via Back Street in Munfordville. US 31W will not have closures related to the work.

The overall KY 88 project between Kessinger and Munfordville is scheduled for completion by June 30th. Once completed, safety and ride quality will be increased throughout the five-mile stretch along with the improved intersection at US 31W.
