I-75 Resurfacing Project in Grant and Kenton Counties Resumes Monday, April 15

Crews will begin working on southbound lanes

COVINGTON, KY (April 12, 2024) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 6 Office announces the contractor will be returning to a resurfacing project on I-75 in Kenton and Grant Counties beginning Monday, April 15.

Crews will be working on I-75 southbound from mile point 164 (one mile south of the Crittenden exit) to mile point 169.4 (Kenton/Boone County line). Crews will be working on pavement repairs and resurfacing, drainage repairs, guardrail work, cross slope correction and erosion repairs.

The contractor worked on the northbound side of the highway in the project area beginning last Spring. This upcoming work will now address the southbound portion of the project.

Crews will begin by addressing base failures in the left lane through the project area. This work will require a single left lane closure.

Once base failures have been addressed, a traffic switch will take place, shifting traffic to the left. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained. KYTC will advise on social media and through the online Roadshow when this traffic switch will take place.

The weigh station (168.5 mile point) will be closed for 30 days while crews focus on rehabilitating the outside shoulder, right lane and a portion of the center lane. We will provide an update on when this closure will begin.

This construction may require a temporary overnight closure of the Crittenden exit (Exit 166) on/off ramps. Message boards will be in place warning motorists of any upcoming ramp closures, and KYTC will advise ahead of those closures on social media.

Additionally, the contractor has indicated there is some minor remaining work to be performed on I-75 northbound in the project area. KYTC will advise motorists ahead of this work.

The project is expected to be completed by November 15, 2024.

The date, time, and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Motorists can get Northern Kentucky road construction updates on the District 6 Roadshow. Follow KYTC District 6 on Facebook or Twitter.
