KYTC and Ballard County Officials Seeking Info on Damage to Bridge on Ceredo Road
Damage believed to have occurred in last few days
PADUCAH, Ky. (March 5, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and Ballard County officials are seeking information to determine who or what caused damage to a bridge on Ceredo Road.
The Ballard County Road Department contacted KYTC inspectors to check damage to the Humphries Creek Bridge near the 3 mile marker on Ceredo Road. This is along Ceredo Road between KY 358/Hinkleville Road and Yates Lane.
A check of the bridge found heavy damage to the curb and the top of a pre-stressed box beam on one side of the bridge. The Ballard County Sheriff did not have any reports of a crash at the site.
While checking the integrity of the bridge structure, inspectors determined the damaged had happened recently. Cracked concrete on the curb and box beam appeared to have been damaged in the last couple of weeks, if not days.
This county section of Ceredo Road remains open. However, traffic barrels have been placed along the damaged curb to keep vehicles from driving on the damaged beam.
Anyone with information on what caused the damage should contact the Ballard County Sheriff's Office.
KYTC engineers will assist the county with developing a repair plan for the bridge structure.
