Replacement of Potts Creek Bridge to take about 90 days

PADUCAH, Ky. (Feb. 22, 2024)  A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans an extended closure of KY 525/New Hope Road in southern Trigg County starting Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

KY 525/New Hope Road will be closed at mile point 4.397 to allow construction of a new bridge over Potts Creek.  This is along KY 525/New Hope Road between Prather Road and Jack Humphries Road and just over a mile north of the KY 1253/Hardy Road intersection.

This section of KY 525 is expected to close promptly at 8 a.m., CST, on Feb. 28.  The contractor has up to 90 days to remove the existing Potts Creek Bridge and construct a new bridge.

There will be no marked detour.

Approximately 570 vehicles travel this section of KY 525/New Hope Road in an average day.

Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on this $658,768 bridge replacement project.  The target completion date is May 31, 2024.
