Update - New Circle Road Widening Project in Fayette County
Between Leestown Road/US 421 and Georgetown Road/US 25
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 8, 2023) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that this news release serves as an update. Periodic updates will be sent to media outlets for the current New Circle Road/KY 4 widening project. The design includes improvements between Leestown Road/US 421 and Georgetown Road/US 25.
The plan for the Leestown Interchange will be a Double Crossover Diamond design. The design is similar to the current Harrodsburg Road/US 68 interchange. The Harrodsburg Road/US 68 DCD (opened in 2011) continues to be effective with reducing crashes.
Project limits: Leestown Road/US 421 (milepoint 7.2) to Georgetown Road/US 25 (milepoint 8.7)
Friday evening, Dec. 8/Saturday morning, Dec. 9 – 7 p.m. until 7 a.m.
Monday, Dec. 11 through Friday evening, Dec. 15/Saturday morning – 7 p.m. evenings until 7 a.m. the following mornings
New Circle Road/KY 4 – Inner and Outer Loops
- traffic diversions are in effect
- milling, paving and striping operations are necessary to prepare lanes for traffic shifts
- traffic diversions are necessary to create space for Phase 1 work to begin in the median
- appropriate signage is in place
- motorists can pass through the work zone
District 7 includes: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties
