Ramp Now Open in Gallatin County Following Commercial Vehicle Fire

Exit 55 entry ramp to I-71 southbound NOW OPEN

UPDATE (Sept. 28, 2023) – The exit 55 (KY 1039 – Markland Dam) entry ramp to I-71 southbound is NOW OPEN. 

COVINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 27, 2023) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 6 Office advises motorists of a ramp closure in Gallatin County following a commercial vehicle fire that took place this morning.

The exit 55 (KY 1039 – Markland Dam) entry ramp to I-71 southbound will be closed until Thursday morning, Sept. 28, for environmental clean-up following the fire.

Detour: puts traffic back on I-71 northbound, take exit 57 (Warsaw-Sparta), then back onto I-71 southbound.

Mainline I-71 northbound and southbound is not impacted by this closure and is currently open.

KYTC will provide updates once the ramp is re-opened.
