I-65 North Traffic Shift Set for Tonight in Bullitt and Hardin Counties

Rolling roadblocks and intermittent lane closures to be expected

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (September 21, 2023) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of lane and traffic shifts on Interstate 65 North in Bullitt and Hardin Counties from mile marker 104.7 to mile marker 110.7. Work is set to take place beginning tonight, September 21, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Crews will be working to move traffic control devices to shift northbound traffic back to the newly constructed asphalt pavement on I-65. Motorists should expect rolling roadblocks to accommodate the traffic shift. This updated traffic pattern will also require intermittent ramp closures at Exit 105 (KY 61) as crews work to complete the traffic shift.

Beginning Sunday, September 24, crews will work to remove and relocate the temporary barrier wall from the southbound lanes to the newly constructed northbound lanes. The barrier wall relocation is necessary to accommodate the southbound traffic shift to contraflow onto the northbound side.

Motorists should heed signage and use caution while traveling through the work zone. Motorists should expect changing traffic patterns, lane shifts, and closures as construction progresses. It is advised to seek an alternate route if possible. Closure details are available: https://transportation.ky.gov/DistrictFive/Pages/KYTC-District-5-Roadshow.aspx.

The asphalt pavement and roadway rehabilitation project will include the full removal of the concrete pavement and the replacement of asphalt pavement. Other improvements to the corridor include bridge repair, subgrade repairs, and guardrail repair/installation. This project will extend the life of the interstate and improve driver comfort on the roadway.
