Contract Awarded for KY 1793 Roadway Improvement Project in Oldham County

Project includes improvements to pedestrian facilities

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 29, 2023) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) announces the awarding of a contract for a roadway improvement project of KY 1793 in Oldham County.

This project includes improvements to pedestrian facilities by installing crosswalks across KY 1793 at Hampton Circle/Harmony Elementary and Longwood Lane/North Oldham Middle and High School campuses. The crosswalk additions will include Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), which utilize a flashing pattern similar to emergency vehicles.

Also included in this project is the construction of right and left turn lanes. The right turn lane will begin at the North Oldham Middle School entrance and extend to the shared North Oldham Middle and High School entrances. The roadway will also taper for a left turn lane onto Longwood Lane between the two school entrances.

Preliminary work has begun, with work continuing throughout the weekdays (excluding peak hours of school start/dismissal times).

Motorists should expect changing traffic patterns, lane shifts, and closures as construction progresses. Motorists should obey restrictions and drive cautiously through the construction zone.

Louisville Paving Company Inc. of Louisville, KY, was awarded the $1.267 million contract. Construction is set to be completed by the fall of 2023.
