KYTC to Host KY 36 Project Public Meeting Thursday, Aug. 31, in Bath County
Feedback needed for safety improvements east of Owingsville
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Aug. 24, 2023) – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineers will host a public meeting next Thursday, Aug. 31, to seek comments on highway safety improvements planned along KY 36 in Bath County.
The meeting will take place 5-7 p.m. at the Bath County Courthouse Annex in Owingsville, and will include information about proposed changes to KY 36 between the I-64 interchange and Hart Pike (KY 965).
Anyone may drop in at any time during the two-hour open house to meet with highway engineers who will discuss the project and answer questions. There will be a brief 5- to 10-minute project overview presentation tentatively scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
During the meeting, participants can view maps that show plans to reduce sharp curves along the roadway — such as at Slate Creek Furnace and Thomas Hill curves and elsewhere — as well as widening driving lanes and shoulders, and changes at intersections to improve sight distance.
Engineers are asking for the public’s feedback, especially on some sections of the four-mile project that require choices about roadway alignment and other work.
Comment sheets will be made available, and written and oral statements about the proposed project can be made at the meeting and for 15 days afterward.
The KY 36 project stemmed from a Transportation Cabinet planning study conducted over the last several years that included engineering analysis and public feedback.
