Traffic Switch on KY 3076 (Mineola Pike) in Boone County to Begin Saturday, April 29

Diversion will be in place for three to four months

COVINGTON, Ky. (April 28, 2023) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 6 Office advises motorists of a traffic diversion on KY 3076 (Mineola Pike) in Boone County beginning Saturday, April 29.

Traffic will transition to the newly paved portion of the Mineola Pike improvement project on Saturday morning. The traffic switch will be on Mineola Pike between Olympic Boulevard (mile point 0.818) and Circleport Drive (mile point 0.419). A 35 mile-per-hour speed limit will be in place with the new traffic diversion.

The diversion will allow crews to work on the embankment of the current alignment of Mineola Pike, and continue progress on the improvement project. The traffic switch will have one-lane in each direction. Both lanes will be 12 feet wide with shoulders on each side.

The traffic pattern will be in place for three to four months.

This traffic diversion is part of an ongoing Mineola Pike improvement project which began in August 2022. The project, from KY 236 (Donaldson Highway) to I-275, will widen the one-mile road to five lanes with a curb and gutter. A sidewalk will be constructed on the south side of the road, and a ten-foot-wide multi-use path will be created for bicyclists and pedestrians.

“This project will greatly improve mobility and provide a better connection to I-275," said Bob Yeager, Chief District Engineer of KYTC’s District 6 office, “With these improvements, it will be a much safer route.”

Motorists should watch for crews and equipment in the work zone. Exercise caution when traveling near the work zone: slow down, avoid distractions, and watch for workers.

The $10.4 million project was award to Eaton Asphalt Paving Co., Inc, of Walton, KY. Leaders anticipate the project to be completed by late 2023 to early 2024.
