Safety improvements along 6 mile section
PADUCAH, Ky. (April 11, 2023) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to ramp up safety improvements along a section of KY 129 in southern Graves County starting Monday, April 17, 2023.
This Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) project runs along KY 129 from the KY 94 intersection at mile point 8.735, extending northward through the KY 2422 intersection to KY 339 at mile point 15.4, a distance of 6.67 miles.
The project includes upgrades to about 25 culverts, widening of shoulders, drainage improvements, signage upgrades and other improvements. There will be upgrades to the Hazel Road intersection.
Motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers at various locations along the work zone. Some delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work.
Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on this $3,215,400 highway safety project. The target completion date is November 15, 2023.
