Closure Planned on Section of KY 1286/North Friendship Rd Week of April 3
Closure between Seneca Lane and U.S. 62 to replace cross drains
PADUCAH, Ky. (April 1, 2023) – As a reminder, a contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to close a section of KY 1286/North Friendship Road in the Lone Oak area of McCracken County the week of April 3-7, 2023.
KY 1286/North Friendship Road will be closed to through traffic from Seneca Lane at mile point 4.21 to U.S. 62/Blandville Road at the 5 mile marker to allow placement and widening of several cross drains. Local access will be maintained for property owners.
This work is being scheduled during Spring Break week to avoid disrupting school bus traffic.
KY 1286/North Friendship Road is expected to close promptly at 6 a.m., CDT, on Monday. Due to excavations along the roadway and placement of equipment to facilitate the work, the roadway is expected to remain closed until late Friday afternoon.
KYTC District 1 and the contractor will attempt to provide timely notice should the roadway reopen to traffic earlier than expected.
This is part of a two-year project to widen and improve KY 1286/North Friendship Road between U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road and U.S. 62.
Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on this $6,338,335 highway improvement project. The target completion date for Phase I is November 30, 2024.
Additional construction activity is expected to ramp up through the summer months to include lane restrictions along this Phase I of the project. Additional phases are planned along 1286 that will include a future connection to U.S. 60/Hinkleville Road near the Menards store.
The project includes a new connection to U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road, realignment of curves, and a multi-use trail.
