PADUCAH, Ky. (March 13, 2023) – The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) plans to continue work zone lane restrictions on the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah and Metropolis this week.
The lane restrictions are to allow a detailed inspection of the bridge structure.
The inspection work is planned on the following schedule:
Monday, March 13 Eastbound from Illinois into Kentucky from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., CDT
Tuesday, March 14 Westbound from Kentucky into Illinois from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., CDT
Wednesday, March 15 Westbound from Kentucky into Illinois from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., CDT
The work zone restriction will be removed from the bridge at night.
Motorists on I-24 should be alert for slowing and merging traffic as they approach the I-24 Ohio River Bridge. There will be a 55 mile per hour work zone speed limit with an enhanced police presence.
Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and inspection personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
