UPDATE:KY 199 Dinky Road in Pike County Closed

Additional Embankment issues prolong closure

PIKE COUNTY (Feb. 21, 2023) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an emergency closure along KY 199 Dinky Rd. in Pike County beginning Monday, Feb. 20. Monday crews were alerted to an embankment break near mp 4.( 4.0 miles Southwest of KY 632 and 1.6 miles West of Pond Creek Rd). Overnight rains caused a large slide beneath the original embankment resulting in a more extensive break.

Crews have been accessing the damage this morning but do not have an estimate on when the road can safely reopen. KYTC will continue the current closure. The road will be closed starting at mp 0.0 near Blackberry and continuing through mp 5.6, ending near Pond Creek Rd.

Motorists will need to use an alternate route and pay close attention to the area's signage. Schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
