Construction Set To Begin In Elizabethtown On KY 251/Pear Orchard Road And Dolphin Drive/Josale Drive

Work schedules may vary depending on weather

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (Feb. 14, 2023)  The next two locations of roundabout construction are scheduled, with work to begin at KY 251/Pear Orchard Road on February 21st and work to begin at Dolphin Drive/Josale Drive on February 28th.

The KY 251/Pear Orchard Road intersection will not be closed during construction, but motorists should pay close attention to signage and be prepared for changing traffic patterns in the work zone. By contract, work at this location is to be complete in 45 days.

The Dolphin Drive/Josale Drive intersection will be closed for a 15-day portion of the construction process, with a total of 30 days for work to be complete. Motorists should also be prepared for changing traffic patterns at this location. The closure date will be announced in advance.

These two locations are part of the previously announced safety improvement projects which includes Commerce Drive at Executive Drive, Woodland Drive at Layman Lane, KY 251 at Panther Lane, KY 251 at Beech Street, West Poplar Street at Sycamore Street, KY 251 at West Poplar Street and West Poplar Street at North Mantle Avenue. Contract crews are strategically scheduling these locations, with particular consideration for school calendars.

Construction on the first announced intersection at the end of US 31W Bypass and KY 1136 was scheduled to begin today (February 14th) but is being pushed back approximately two or three weeks due to a delay in receiving precast drainage structure materials.

These schedules are subject to change, especially during the next few months of varying weather conditions. Continual updates on the project will be distributed through local media and KYTC District 4 social media (Facebook and Twitter: @KYTCdistrict4).
