Icy Road Conditions in Highway District 12 Due to Arctic Storm

Conditions as of 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec 23

HIGHWAY DISTRICT 12 – (Dec 23, 2022) The Kentucky Department of Transportation District 12 began plowing and treating roads across the district’s seven counties at midnight last night. Frigid temperatures and strong winds have slowed efforts as roads across the district remain partially covered with snow and ice as we head into the second half of Friday.

Crews returned to plowing after changing shifts at the top of the hour. They will continue to treat and clear roads throughout the evening and monitor traffic impacts as arctic temperatures linger throughout the weekend. Sub-zero temperatures such as these make salt less effective, and high winds have the potential to blow snow back across roadways.

As of this release, KYTC D-12 does not report any closures due to weather.
