Operations scheduled for Mt. Sterling in

Montgomery County

Removal of the pedestrian bridge over Maysville Street/US 460

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 21, 2022)  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a scheduled closure for Maysville Street/US 460. The temporary closure is necessary for the removal of the pedestrian bridge located over the roadway. The bridge in downtown Mt. Sterling is being removed for safety precautions.

  • this location is the roadway under the bridge over Maysville Street/US 460

Tuesday, Nov. 22 and Wednesday, Nov. 238 a.m. until 6 p.m. (times are approximate)

  • preliminary work will be in effect for preparation of the bridge removal
  • work will not impact the traveling public

Wednesday, Nov. 30 through Thursday, Dec. 18 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday (times are approximate)

  • the route will be closed

Thursday, Dec. 1 through Friday, Dec. 28 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday (times approximate)

  • the route will be closed

Message boards will be in place to advise motorists of the closure times.

The traveling public is strongly encouraged to utilize the Mt. Sterling Bypass/KY 686 as an alternate route while the night work is in effect.

All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

District 7 includes: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties
